OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition Help

Upgrading a Custom Coordinate System from a Previous Version of OpenCities Map or MicroStation GeoGraphics

Previous versions of OpenCities Map and MicroStation GeoGraphics provided tools to create user defined coordinate systems. These coordinate systems were stored in the Bentley delivered coordinate systems dictionary (coordsys.dty). In MicroStation V8i and later, editing the Bentley library is no longer possible. Instead a separate coordinate systems library is created and is used to store any custom coordinate systems there. Please see Editing Coordinate Systems .

If you've defined custom coordinate systems in a previous version of OpenCities Map or MicroStation GeoGraphics, use the following procedure to make those custom systems available in the current version of OpenCities Map.

  • Make a backup copy of the delivered coordinate systems dictionary (\Program Files\Bentley\Map CONNECTEdition\OpenCitiesMap\GeoCoordinateData\coordsys.dty).

  • Replace the delivered coordsys.dty with the coordsys.dty file from a previous version of OpenCities Map or MicroStation GeoGraphics. This should be the dictionary that contains the custom coordinate system entries. Map: \Program Files\Bentley\GeospatialExtension\coordinate\tables GeoGraphics: \Program Files\Bentley\Program\GeoGraphics\coordinate\tables.

  • Create a user coordinate systems library following the procedure outlined in the section Editing Coordinate Systems .

  • Open OpenCities Map and copy all custom coordinate systems from the system library to the user library.

  • Close OpenCities Map and restore the backed up copy of the delivered coordsys.dty.
